Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Cookies

Calling all chocolate and peanut butter lovers! These chocolate chip peanut butter cookies are the easiest way to create this classic salty and sweet flavor combo.

Chocolate chip peanut butter cookies ingredients

Chocolate Chips - My go to chocolate chips are semi-sweet chocolate baking chips from Guittard, but you can substitute these for milk chocolate or dark chocolate if you’d like. I say get adventurous.

Peanut Butter - peanut butter is a great way to add protein to a baked delight! For use in baking, i like both chunky and smooth peanut butters. In these cookies I used chunky but smooth is just as nice and I like to alternate depending on my mood!

Chocolate chip peanut butter cookies tips

The key to a perfectly soft and crispy cookie is to remove the cookie sheet from the oven right before the cookies are fully cooked.

Adjust as You Go - With every recipe, I recommend tasting along the way and adjust the amount of any of the ingredient to suit your taste.

Don’t Sugar Coat It - Some teeth are more sensitive than others. If you don’t like the way the sugar coating feels on your teeth, you can easily skip coating the cookies in sugar. They will still taste just as good!

How should I store Fudgy Peanut Butter Cookies?

To keep cookies fresh, store them in an air tight container. You can leave them out on the counter for up to two days, or store them in the fridge for up to five days.

Can I freeze the cookie dough?

Yes, absolutely. Roll the cookie dough into balls and cot with sugar as you would if you were prepping them for the oven, then store them in an airtight freezer container for up to 3 months. The sugar coating helps to keep them from sticking to each other.

Once you are ready to bake them place them on a cookie sheet about two inches apart and bake as you would normally, and they may need a minute or two longer in the oven.

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1 egg

1 1/4 cups all purpose flour

1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Using an electric mixer, cream the butter, peanut butter, and sugar together until fluffy.

Add egg and mix well.

Add all-purpose flour and mix until encorporated.

Using a spatula, fold in chocolate chips just enough to disperse them evenly.

Form dough into 1.5" round balls and place onto the cookie baking sheet pan.

Use a fork to flatten each ball so they are three fourths of an inch thick by pressing the fork onto the top each ball then crossing the pattern by shifting the fork 45 degrees and pressing it down one more time, creating a "#" pattern.

Bake for 9-11 minutes or until cookie bottoms are golden brown.
